James “The Blues Hound” Nagel

Actively involved in the blues community for over 25 years as a writer, photographer, festival/benefit organizer, producer, emcee and promoter. Certificate of Award Recipient for “Outstanding Accomplishments for Blues Journalism”. Radio show host of “Howlin’ the Blues” (Sundays 2-5 pm) on 90.1 FM KPFT (2006 KBA Public Radio Blues Programming). Formerly I have served on the Houston Blues Society Advisory Board and Board of Directors as well as Vice President (2013-14). Festival Chair of the 2007 Charles Brown “Day of Remembrance” Blues Festival and Entertainment Chair of the 2008 Charles Brown Music Festival, Board of Directors of the Uncle John Turner Foundation and President of the Houston Blues Museum (2009-2011). Currently serve on the Advisory Board of the Houston Blues Museum, and a member in good standing of the Austin Blues Society, Houston Blues Society and The Blues Foundation. Proud recipient of a 2017 Keeping The Blues Alive Award from The Blues Foundation.


Colleen Nagel

Involved in the blues community for over 25 years by way of osmosis with my husband, “The Blues Hound”. Currently co-host of “Howlin’ the Blues” (Sundays 2-5 pm) on 90.1 FM KPFT (2006 KBA Public Radio Blues Programming) and a member of the Houston Blues Society. An avid supporter of our local music scene and a key player in the organizational efforts of numerous fundraisers for KPFT as well as the 2007 Charles Brown “Day of Remembrance” Blues Festival and the 2008 Charles Brown Music Festival. Also served as Treasurer of the Houston Blues Museum (2009-2011).
